Carillon
Assisted Living- Raleigh, NC![]() |
Carillon Assisted Living
approached
us about doing audio installs in all 15 of their North Carolina
facilities, located from the seacoast to the mountains- in Southport,
Fayetteville, Fuquay-Varina, Knightdale, Durham, Hillsborough,
Asheboro, Harrisburg, Salisbury, Indian Trail, Cramerton,
Hendersonville, Shelby, Lincolnton and Newton. All of the
buildings are basically alike, so we designed an 8-zone 70v distributed
audio system
that could be fitted to each of the 15 buildings. The systems
utilize 24 Soundtube ceiling speakers, 6 outdoor speakers, an
8-channel Ashly amp, an 8X8 Kramer matrix switcher, Antex XM satellite
radio receiver, Sony CD changer, Audio Technica wireless mics and a
Shure SM262 mixer. This huge project required careful scheduling
and
coordination, in addition to working in a health-care environment
where we were surrounded by staff and residents every step of the
way.
As of December 31, 2011, all work has been completed, with the
exception of the Durham facility (still under construction as of
January, 2012). |
| QVC
(the cable TV-based retail company) has a huge warehouse and
shipping/receiving facility in Rocky Mount, NC and we have enjoyed a
happy relationship with them for the last several years. ACS Tarheel fitted
their employee dining room out with (6) 52" plasma flat screen
televisions, tied them together with a Kramer scaler/switcher and
routed the TV audio into a set a Soundtube high-fidelity ceiling
speakers that gave the entire large dining area great audio
coverage.
QVC had two satellite TV tuners installed, so lunching employees can
keep track of what's being sold on QVC on one set
of screens, while watching cable news or a baseball game on the
others. It's a pretty nifty setup. The design also allows
the audio sytem to be used for corporate meetings or training. We also built a new corporate training room for QVC, including a LCD projector, screen, Soundtube ceiling speakers, Soundcraft mixer/amp, and a podium from which the corporate trainer can control all of the AV functions without moving away from his desk. |

Sharon Baptist
Church in Smithfield, NC was ready to replace
their 20 year-old sound system, so we installed a Yamaha MG 24/14 FX
console, Peavey amps, a Community CPL-46 FOH box with a Community
CPL-27 box to provide chancel and choir monitoring. In
addition, the church acquired Mackie SRM150 powered monitors for
their instrumentalists and a full complement of dbx audio processing
gear and Audio Technica microphones. The big challenge at Sharon was the 32' ceiling (see photo at left) with very little internal wooden structure for flying speakers. With some creativity, we were able to design and install a flying system that was both aesthetically pleasing and functional. |
